Hi everyone… I want to sincerely apologize for being such a terrible blogger over the past few months!  2013 has been a really busy year so far, partially due to the fact that I’m volunteering with more shelters and rescue groups than ever.  While I love being able to work with multiple groups to photograph as many homeless animals as possible, unfortunately that leaves less and less time for putting together blog posts.  I also feel like perhaps the animals are getting more exposure through Facebook than this blog, so that’s where I’m concentrating more of my efforts to share their photos and stories.  I may post here from time to time, and I do hope to start posting more regularly again someday, but right now please “like” me on facebook to see new photos of adoptables from shelters and rescues all over the Baltimore area!  www.facebook.com/maryswiftphotography

For now, I’ll leave you with an updated photo of Brutus (you can read more about him here), as he continues to wait for his forever home.  Here he is sporting his new Sirius Republic collar!  Sirius Republic is a big supporter of rescue efforts and they were so incredibly generous to donate some “Adopt Me” collars to the dogs at the Baltimore Humane Society.  If you haven’t checked out this awesome company yet, be sure to visit www.siriusrepublic.com and pick out a gorgeous handmade collar for your own pooch!  You can even use the code RPBH65 and some of the proceeds from your purchase will be donated to BHS.  Thank you Sirius Republic!!

Jasmine’s House is a great pit bull rescue that is in need of donations right now! The organization is currently unable to take any more dogs until they raise some much-needed funds, which means they can’t pull any from the shelters that are in danger of being euthanized for space. So from now through the end of August, book a photo session for your pit bull(s) with Mary Swift Photography and 25% of the session fee will be donated to Jasmine’s House. If your dog isn’t a bully breed and you still want to participate in this promotion, no problem! Just mention it to me at our session. Let’s help them so they can help the dogs!

For session information please visit maryswiftphotography.com, or you can email me directly at Mary@maryswiftphotography.com.
If you want to donate directly to Jasmine’s House, you can do so here.

UPDATE:  Wow!!  We’ve gotten an overwhelming response to the request for calendar models… so many more entries than I expected!  We are no longer accepting any more entries.  Thank you to everyone who submitted your pet… I really wish we had more than 12 slots available so that I could photograph them all again.  Thank you everyone!

Models wanted! I’m looking for pets that have been adopted from the Baltimore Humane Society recently (in the past couple of years) to be photographed for the 2012 BHS calendar. Want to get some professional photos of your furry friend and contribute to a good cause at the same time? If you’re interested, please fill out the form below to submit your pet for consideration!

The details:
If your pet is selected, you’ll receive a free mini-session and 8×10 print, and he/she will appear in the 2012 BHS calendar which will raise money for the shelter animals. Only pets adopted from BHS are eligible. Participants will be required to sign a session agreement and release form (must be at least 18 years of age) allowing Mary Swift Photography to publish the images. Sessions must take place within 30 miles of the 21244 zip code and be completed by August 31, 2011.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to Bark in the Park on Saturday!  It was so much fun to meet all the dogs and their people, and we had a blast doing the event photos.  Even though this isn’t my usual style of photography (I don’t usually pose the dogs with props), I still had a lot of fun and got a real kick out of some of the images. Many thanks to the BHS for providing such a beautiful, elaborate “pumpkin patch” setting for the photos!

If you had your photo taken at the event, you can order it at www.maryswift.smugmug.comAll of the profits will go to the Baltimore Humane Society to benefit the shelter animals that are currently waiting for homes.  Thank you all for your support and I hope to see you next year!

Welcome! Since 2005, Mary Swift Photography has teamed up with the Baltimore Humane Society in an effort to capture all of its animals’ personalities on film and help them find their forever homes. Here you will find photos and stories of just a few of the many pets that are still waiting patiently to be adopted.  Occasionally you’ll see pets from other organizations here as well, since I volunteer with several different rescues. Please check back often, as I will be updating this blog regularly with more photos of adoptable animals. Maybe you’ll find your next family member here!
(Please note: I am not an employee of the BHS, just a volunteer… so if you’re interested in adopting someone you see here, please contact the organization directly. Thanks!)

For more animals available for adoption, visit www.bmorehumane.org.
