I am the foster momma of a geriatric puppy (15-18 years young) who is going blind and deaf, and I was the momma of a kitty with only one eye (and therefore no depth perception). I also have met many blind and/or deaf dogs, and one blind cat. I can assure you that a blind dog or cat is no more of a challenge than any other. I also can assure you that a blind dog is just as joyful and spirited as any other! As long as you redecorate too often, you and your special companion will enjoy a wonderful life!!!
